Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 15, 2026

At PizzaPizza, we believe you deserve to know exactly what happens with your information. This isn't a legal smokescreen—it's a straightforward explanation of how we handle your data when you interact with our national cuisine training programs and services.

We've written this policy in plain language because privacy shouldn't require a law degree to understand. If something here doesn't make sense or you have questions, just reach out. We're real people and we're happy to explain.

What Information We Collect

When you connect with us about our training programs, we collect information that helps us provide relevant services and communicate effectively. Here's what that actually means:

Information You Give Us Directly

  • Contact details: Your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address when you inquire about programs or register for classes
  • Professional background: Your experience level, culinary interests, and training goals so we can recommend appropriate programs
  • Payment information: Credit card details or banking information when you enroll in paid programs (processed securely through our payment partners)
  • Communication preferences: How you'd like to hear from us and what types of information interest you
  • Program feedback: Your comments, suggestions, and experiences with our training programs

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, some technical information gets collected automatically—standard stuff that helps us keep the site running smoothly:

  • Usage data: Which pages you visit, how long you spend there, and what you click on
  • Device information: Your browser type, operating system, and screen resolution
  • Location data: General geographic location based on your IP address (city level, not your exact address)
  • Cookies and tracking: Small files that remember your preferences and help us understand how people use our site

About Cookies: We use cookies to improve your experience and understand site usage. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some site features may not work as smoothly. We don't use cookies to track you across other websites.

How We Use Your Information

We're not in the business of collecting data for its own sake. Everything we collect serves a practical purpose related to providing training services and improving your experience.

Purpose What This Actually Means
Program Delivery Enrolling you in classes, sending course materials, tracking your progress, and providing certificates
Communication Responding to your questions, sending program updates, sharing class schedules, and providing customer support
Payment Processing Handling tuition payments, issuing receipts, and managing refunds when applicable
Service Improvement Understanding which programs work well, identifying areas for improvement, and developing new training offerings
Marketing Letting you know about new programs, special events, and opportunities that match your interests (only if you've agreed to receive these)
Legal Compliance Meeting requirements under Canadian law, maintaining records for tax purposes, and protecting against fraud

We don't sell your personal information. Period. We're a training business, not a data broker. Your information stays with us except in the specific circumstances outlined in the next section.

When We Share Your Information

We keep your information private by default. But running a training business means working with partners who help us deliver services. Here's the complete picture of when your information might be shared:

Service Partners We Work With

  • Payment processors: Companies like Stripe or Square that handle credit card transactions securely
  • Email service providers: Platforms that help us send program updates and communications
  • Cloud storage providers: Services where we securely store course materials and student records
  • Scheduling software: Tools that manage class bookings and instructor calendars
  • Analytics services: Platforms that help us understand website usage and improve user experience

All these partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and can only use your information for the specific services they provide to us. They can't use it for their own purposes or share it with others.

Legal Requirements

Sometimes we're legally required to share information. This happens when:

  • We receive a valid court order or subpoena
  • Canadian tax authorities request records for compliance purposes
  • We need to protect someone's safety or prevent illegal activity
  • We're defending ourselves in legal proceedings

Business Transfers: If PizzaPizza is acquired by another company or merges with another business, your information would be transferred as part of that transaction. We'd notify you beforehand and explain any changes to how your data is handled.

Your Rights and Choices

This is your information. Under Canadian privacy law (specifically PIPEDA - the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), you have meaningful rights about how it's used. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Information

You can request a copy of all the personal information we have about you. We'll provide it in a readable format within 30 days of your request.

Correct Inaccuracies

If something in your profile is wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it promptly. You can update most information yourself through your student account.

Request Deletion

You can ask us to delete your personal information. We'll comply unless we need to keep certain records for legal or regulatory reasons (like tax documentation).

Opt Out of Marketing

Not interested in hearing about new programs? Click unsubscribe in any marketing email or contact us to update your communication preferences.

Data Portability

Request your information in a format you can transfer to another service provider. We'll provide commonly used file formats.

Challenge Our Practices

If you believe we're not handling your information properly, you can file a complaint with us or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

How to Exercise These Rights

To use any of these rights, contact us at help@plzzaplza.org or call (905) 271-3738. We'll need to verify your identity before making changes to your account or sharing personal information—just a reasonable security measure to protect your data.

Most requests are handled within two weeks. More complex requests might take up to 30 days. We'll keep you updated throughout the process.

How We Protect Your Information

Security isn't just about having the right technology—it's about building protection into everything we do. Here's our approach:

Technical Safeguards

  • Encryption: Your data is encrypted both when transmitted over the internet and when stored on our servers
  • Secure servers: We use reputable hosting providers with strong security certifications and regular security audits
  • Access controls: Only employees who need access to perform their jobs can view personal information
  • Regular updates: We keep our systems patched and updated against known security vulnerabilities
  • Secure payment processing: Credit card information never touches our servers—it goes directly to PCI-compliant payment processors

Operational Safeguards

  • Staff training: Everyone on our team receives regular training on privacy and data security
  • Vendor management: We carefully vet service providers and require them to maintain strong security practices
  • Incident response: We have procedures in place to quickly address any security concerns that arise
  • Regular reviews: We periodically assess our security measures and make improvements

What If Something Goes Wrong?

Despite our best efforts, no system is 100% secure. If we experience a data breach that affects your personal information, we'll notify you promptly and explain what happened, what information was involved, and what steps we're taking to address the situation.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We don't keep information longer than necessary. But "necessary" varies depending on what type of information we're talking about and why we collected it.

Active Students

While you're enrolled in programs or actively participating in our training, we keep all your information readily accessible. This includes course records, payment history, and communication preferences.

Former Students

After you complete a program, we retain certain records for legitimate purposes:

  • Certificates and completion records: Kept indefinitely so you can request verification of your training
  • Financial records: Maintained for seven years as required by Canadian tax law
  • Contact information: Retained for three years unless you request deletion, in case you want to enroll in future programs
  • Course materials access: Some programs include lifetime access to materials; we keep your account active for this purpose

Inquiries That Don't Result in Enrollment

If you contact us but don't enroll, we keep your inquiry information for 18 months. This helps us follow up on your interest and understand which programs attract attention. After that, we delete it unless you've asked to receive updates about future programs.

Marketing Lists

If you've subscribed to our newsletter or program updates, we keep your contact information until you unsubscribe. We periodically clean these lists to remove inactive email addresses.

Children's Privacy

Our training programs are designed for adults ages 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we'll delete it.

Some of our programs may accept participants aged 16-17 with parental consent. In these cases, we collect the parent or guardian's information and obtain explicit permission before the young person can participate.

International Data Transfers

We operate in Canada and our primary servers are located here. However, some of our service providers (like cloud hosting or payment processing companies) may have servers in other countries, including the United States.

When your information is transferred outside Canada, it becomes subject to the laws of that country. For example, information stored on U.S. servers may be accessible to U.S. law enforcement under certain circumstances.

We only work with international service providers who maintain strong privacy protections. All our contracts with these providers include requirements to protect your information according to Canadian privacy standards.

Changes to This Policy

Privacy practices evolve and laws change. When we need to update this policy, we'll post the new version here with a revised "Last Updated" date at the top.

For minor clarifications or administrative changes, we'll simply update the policy. If we make significant changes that affect how we use your information, we'll notify you by email and give you a chance to review the changes before they take effect.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.

Questions and Complaints

We take privacy concerns seriously. If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, we want to hear from you.
